Update on Baby Wilde

Sorry we weren't able to update you all Tuesday, it was a tough day for both of us and we weren't able to put our thoughts together until the last couple days.  We had the specialist appointment on Monday.  It didn't go as we had hoped.  It looks as if this is not a genetic disorder but will get the blood test results to confirm that early next week.  However, the baby has little chance of survival after birth due to the severity of the congenital defect.  We have chosen to continue on with the pregnancy and will most likely go to full term. We are heartbroken but know that God is good and God is love.  No matter what the outcome of this is we know He loves us and this precious little one still in the womb.  We will continue to pray for a miracle but also know God has the ultimate plan in his hands. Your continued prayers, love, and support are so humbling and we can't tell you how much we appreciate it.  The emails, texts, cards, etc we have received are very encouraging and uplifting throughout our days.

At this point we are praising God that as of now the amniotic fluid index is within normal range- which will determine if the baby's lungs develop.  As of now our most pertinent prayer request is that this will continue to be the case despite the severe damage to the kidneys, which is what helps produce the amniotic fluid (this is why medically they don't think it will continue that way and therefore the lungs won't develop). We also pray that in some form the pressure in the bladder would miraculously form a new way of releasing the fluid it's withholding. We pray that the baby can make it at the very least past 30 weeks.  If by chance the lungs would develop, dialysis treatment (which would be needed to do the job for the kidneys) on a baby less then 30 weeks is very hard and then of course with any baby there are many more added risks for the baby not developing fully this early. We also pray for strength, peace, and comfort in the upcoming days, weeks, and months. That we can have the right words, especially for Mikayla and Malachi, and that they can come to know how awesome God is even during our struggles. We ask for wisdom for our healthcare providers, that we can be witnesses even through this difficult time, and most of all that God can use this for his glory. We praise God for this time we get to spend with our precious little one now- feeling the baby kick and move about are such special times throughout our day.

We are so grateful for the people the have been placed so perfectly in our path, both here in San Diego and our family and friends far away.  Our prayer request regarding the understanding of Jeff's surgeons he is working with are definitely being answered and they have been more supportive then we would've ever expected. Our next appointment will be August 26th.  Until that time we can only be on our knees and put our trust and hope in Him alone.

With much love,
Jeff & Nicole
