Honduras 2010

What are the chances that we would do surgery on a girl born on the exact same day as I was? However, I looked like a giant next to her! This was took in the hospital area of the building.
View outside the hospital...La Ceiba's nature is absolutely BEAUTIFUL...

Jeff's first intubation...Success!

Working in the PACU...which is considered 'sterile' in Honduras, so we have to wear hats and 'clean' scrubs at all times and family members must wear gowns and hats to visit...

Surgio, a guy that volunteers his time every year to help transport us around in the bus...he also taught Jeff & I Honduras 101 on the way back to the airport...which I was glad was not on the way from the airport or I may have not got off the bus :) ...one doesn't know how good we have it until you listen to someone like him!

The South Dakotans...we have no idea how Ryan ended up looking this big, but it turned out better than photo shop!

A thyroidectomy patient in the "ICU". ..also a translator for me with all the other patients there at the time :)..English was her first language

A typical home out of town.

The beautiful peacock that was showing off to us...

One of our tonsilectomy patients. ..also one of the few that could speak English :)..she came back to visit us two days after her surgery to give us Honduras tank tops...what a sweatheart!

Jeff doing a minor procedure- taking off possibly skin cancer...

In the jungle.... we found out after this that there was a 10ft snake in this waterfall last year...

The wiring was AMAZINGLY dangerous! This is what it was like throughout the entire city...

The hospital...

The military escorted us to La Ceiba...the guys in the group were pretty impressed with how they all carried assault rifles...

View from the plane...

Here's a sneak preview of what our trip to Honduras was like...more to come later....
