4th of July

Jeff & I have only had one other 4th of July off together since we've been married so we made the most of this one! The saturday before the 4th we went to a great fireworks show with some good food.  Mikayla was very impressed with all of the color and noise :-).  The day of the 4th Steve, Kathleen, and Daniel came out with us on the boat.  All was going well until our new boat battery died just after we decided to explore the furthest part of the lake.  We've had issues with this before but since we bought a new battery and haven't had a single problem with it this year I talked Jeff into leaving the portable jumper in the car. Oops! Thankfully two very nice sheriffs happened to be cruising the lake in front of us right after we came to the conclusion that no matter how many times we tried or what we did the boat just wasn't going to start and therefore we would be swimming it back.  After commenting on our kiddos being in the correct floatation devices from them and a little bit of begging for help from us we were on our way being tugged across back to the car. It was about the time we were thinking of stopping so after getting the boat started we decided to load it.  Of course our fun couldn't stop there so our winch broke on the trailer when we were loading the boat and then my phone stopped working shortly after.  However, after we were safely on shore we enjoyed a very nice cook out together and then went our seperate ways for nap time.  The rest of the day was very relaxing and Mikayla loved doing the few fireworks we bought for her. Darren also came to our rescue and fixed the boat that evening so Julie, Nick, Mikayla, and I went for an ice cream run to pass the time. The whole day was so much fun and we loved every bit of celebrating the holiday together and with friends!

Best buds on the boat.

All was going well until the DJ and Kathleen went for a nose dive into the water! DJ handled it like a champ!

Our grand finale to the shore...the sheriff pulling us back after our battery died :(.

Not sure what they're saying but it looks like a pretty interesting conversation :-)
