Start of Surgery

Jeff was taken back to the operating room at about noon, the actual surgery started now at 12:50p.  The urologist said Jeff was thin enough that he still wasn't certain based on the CT scan if this would be contained or locally infiltrated to the other organs but he will be able to tell when he gets in there. Praying hard that it's just the kidney. We won't know the pathology report for another 7-10 days. I was able to drop him off and be with him to check him in at the front desk this morning but wasn't allowed to go any further with him.  I'm so thankful for the support he has received from his colleagues and OR staff. One of his colleagues was in the waiting room with him and another in the pre-op area. The supporting OR staff came by to see him as well which he really appreciated.  Jeff's surgery is actually taking place on a day he normally operates on his patients and in the same place so even though I'm not able to be with him I am comforted that many people who care about him are there. His hospital isn't that big and they all tend to not only take care of their patients but also really take care of one another-- this has now been proven to us twice.

I am in constant prayer for Jeff and for God's presence to be felt in the entire operating room.

In the meantime, the two older kids were picked up by their teachers (on their day off) who had a special day planned for them.  Seriously, these two special ladies need to be awarded teachers of the year. Our kids were having a harder time with this over the weekend but the one thing they couldn't wait for was getting a special day with Miss J and Miss A. It's absolutely amazing how big their hearts are.
