Early Morning, Nov. 25

Ezra was stable overnight with a little bump in the road with his 2 am cares when they had to bag/suction, slightly increase his ventilator settings, and give him a bolus of fentanyl.  He did get another large mucus plug out and settled down a little bit again so they were able to go back down on his ventilator settings.  Dopamine (the continuous blood pressure medication) is on the lowest dose. His BUN and creatinine decreased yesterday so the nephrologist agreed to increasing his protein in the total parental nutrition (TPN). She also plans on increasing the amount of solution they put in each dwell time from 25ml to 30 ml today. They restarted his feeds at a very  small amount yesterday and hopes it will help get things moving a little more in his GI tract since breastmilk also has a laxative effect. They also decreased his sedation meds slightly yesterday and last night when we went to say goodnight to him he opened his eyes ever so slightly every time we talked to him 🙂. We are in continuous prayer and celebrate any and all baby steps.

With love,
Jeff & Nicole

Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:4-7
