Wednesday, Nov. 30th Evening

We just got back from visiting Ezra. At this time he is more stable and they were able to go down a little on the oscillator settings.  His blood pressure continues to be up and down but his heart rate was better.  They made a little adjustment to his peritoneal dialysis fluid so that may be contributing to some of the labile b/p.  They are continuing to watch the peritoneal dialysis culture to see if it grows any more in the next day or two to confirm if we have an infection. We are praying that it might just be contaminated.

Ezra gave us another scare this afternoon for a few hours after they did their 2pm cares and had to turn him.  Seeing your baby turn pale white and different shades of gray/blue was a little anxiety producing to say the least until he turned pink again and was able to finally get back on the oscillator and hold his own consistently after 2 1/2 hours of struggling. They warned us that a stay in the NICU is a roller coaster and they have been right. We would say more like a very old rickety wooden roller coaster that sometimes feels like at any moment you are going to bounce right off the tracks.  We are trying our best to hold on tight for the ride, even if it feels like we are about to loose our grip.  But no matter how hard it is to hold on or how long it is we are very thankful that God has allowed us to continue to ride on this roller coaster with him and are grateful for all of you who have also joined us in doing so.

With love,
Jeff & Nicole

In the last day a couple of people have sent encouragement referencing Isaiah 49:16 "Behold, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands".  We found it very fitting that today Ezra let us hold the palm of his hand for the first time and would give us a good squeeze every once in awhile.

He also decided to really wake up and say good night to us before we left tonight.
